Flood of 1994

In 1994, there was an enormous flood from the Okmulgee River in Macon. Downtown suffered damages to many businesses. Not only were businesses damaged, but the flood filled the drinking water  facility with clay. This resulted in the city of Macon being with no water for almost 3 weeks. Highway 16 had a great deal to do with this. On one side there was a levi and the other highway 16. This left no room for the water to spread out creating a bottle neck, sending water throughout downtown Macon.

The Perfect Storm

In class we watched the Perfect Storm. A group of fishermen had a disappointing trip in which they barely caught any fish. When they returned home the captain of the ship decided to go out on one last trip. He took the crew to the Flemish Cap. This was a longer trip than the crew was ready for. Out in the middle of the ocean with a huge catch, their refrigerating system broke. This left the captain and his crew with a decision. Lose the catch of a lifetime or sail straight into the middle of three hurricanes. The crew let money cloud their minds and took the chance of sailing through the storm. After they realized they would not make it through the storm they turned around. After turning around, the ship capsized and sank taking the whole crew with her.

Granite

Schist
This is a metamorphic rock. Most schists are mica schist.

Cruz Plaza
While constructing the Cruz Plaza the workers must make sure that the soil does not wash away in the invent of a heavy down pour. Also they must be conscious of the water and gas lines and make sure not to hit any of the pipes.
